HIMSS Fellowship Announcement

The SFLHIMSS chapter is pleased to announce that Anita Wilson, MSN, RN, CPHIMSS was recently recognized by the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society as a newly appointed Fellow member of the organization.

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is the premier professional member organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology. This can most effectively be accomplished through strong, involved leadership from information management professionals. By providing an advancement path for members to move from active member to Senior Member and ultimately to Fellow Member status, HIMSS can recognize and reward outstanding performance and participation within the organization. The membership advancement process also supports the development of strong, professional leaders within HIMSS.

The purpose of the advancement process primarily is to recognize those members who have provided substantial service and contributions to HIMSS, with an emphasis on the member’s professional growth and participation within HIMSS. Secondarily, the advancement process recognizes members for their contribution of knowledge and experience to the healthcare industry as a whole.

Achieving advancement will signify a member's intent to actively engage in the leadership of HIMSS. Individuals who advance to Senior Member and Fellow Member status are seen as leaders within HIMSS, implying not only recognition for past contributions, but also the expectation of continued participation and contributions.

Fellow Members, the highest membership level, are those members who are known and recognized within HIMSS for their continued service and ongoing contribution of their knowledge to the success of the society and to the fields of healthcare, information, technology and change.

If it’s not what you know but who you know, then the chapter is the place to be. Membership brings together like-minded people with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Through workshops, seminars, and conferences, chapter members have a special "pipeline" to new industry techniques and ideas.

Your chapter has a wide variety of resources at its fingertips to help keep members current and competitive.

Members faced with unique job challenges can talk and network with colleagues who have lived the experience. Your chapter holds the collective wisdom from organizations of all sizes and financial resources.

Members determine the curriculum for educational sessions, write articles on industry trends, and set the organizational direction of the association.
